We can’t believe that the past year has gone by so quickly. I know everyone said it would, but still….
Without doubt, this has been the best, most joyful and sleep deprived year ever. Every day Liam gets funnier and cheekier, and he makes us laugh as much as we make him laugh. I hate to lose the ‘baby’, but I can’t wait to see what he gets up to next. (I’m guessing it’s going to be daddy’s garden).
We had a lovely small birthday party yesterday with our closest friends in the French Riviera, and with Liam’s little girlfriend, Ava, and her family. An awful lot of Canadians in attendance!!! Of course Liam didn’t really realize what was going on, but hey, he’s used to being the centre of attention.
Mum made her first ever cake, and had pretty lofty aspirations to theme it ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, which is Liam’s favourite book. Two thumbs up!! It was as successful as one could hope… and tasted pretty yummy! Double layer chocolate cake with a double helping of cacao buttercream frosting, topped with a layer of marshmallow fondant and accented with marzipan fruits. We’ve gone through more sugar in the last 24 hours than we have in the whole of last year.
And yet, surprisingly, Liam didn’t make the catastrophic chocolate mess that we were expecting!! And believe me, he is more than capable of catastrophic messes!!
Watch this space soon, and daddy will upload a little video of Liam and his birthday cake.
Many thanks to everyone who came to the party, and shared this very special day with us. Liam’s first birthday is more for us than him, and we were really happy to celebrate it with the people who really care about the little dude. Grandma and Grandpa Woolley also joined for the singing and cake via Skype video… they weren’t about to miss their Grandson’s big day.
Many thanks for all of Liam’s prezzies too everyone. Liam will certainly never be bored!!
