It was a great ski weekend.

Liam LOVED skiing, and there was a ton of fresh snow. So much, in fact, that the big rigs were out constantly clearing it off the roads, so Liam got to see some pretty big dump trucks and front end loaders with heavy wheel chains!

Liam has asked to go back, so we’ve booked another long weekend in Valberg for mid-March so he can try his ski legs again. Next time perhaps he can spend a bit more time on the mountain skiing down with mumma, and maybe give the chair lifts a try! And his friend Giuliana (with Katherine and Bob) may come up and join us for the weekend, as we gave them a nudge that the apartment we booked still had one more unit available for the same dates. What fun for all!

Having said all this, it was a rather bittersweet birthday, as just before we left for the mountains we found out that Grandma Woolley was back in the hospital as she’d suffered what we now know was a series of strokes, and had lost vision in her left eye, and movement of her left arm. She will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future and has a team of doctors working with her daily to help her with recovery from her strokes in conjuction with the oncologists who are working with her on the cancer treatment. It’s a frustrating and challenging time, and our thoughts are both with her, and with Grandpa Woolley who is doing the best to keep her spirits up, and his own. These are the times it’s hard to be far from home…

We hope to have better news on this over the coming weeks…
